CBGB is one of the favorite places that I share with Mel but for some reasons It shuts down in 2006.
I was back reading my blog when I saw an old post I
wrote about it in 2010. I checked Google for photos and I randomly
found out that there is a coming movie about the club and the man behind
it, Hilly Kristal. In a twist of fate, I discovered that the movie will
be in theaters today, Oct 11 but will release internationally in 2014. Movie4k has it already so I can watch it in the comfort of my home anytime today.
Just in case you don’t know, CBGB was an iconic music club that started in 1973 in Manhattan, New York.
Bands like Green Day, The Police, The Velvet Underground, Sonic Youth,
Goo Goo Dolls, The Red Hot Chili Peppers and The Ramones are just few of
the thousand musicians that played the club over the years. They say
it’s where The New York Punk scene sprouted.
I’ve read bunch of bad reviews about the
movie but who cares it’s one of our favorite places in the world and
it’s where most of the music legends start playing. Because there is no
other way now to see and get there, this film is our only portal to the nerve center of everything that mattered in music in the past 40 years.
